Week One: Group Activity - Pasta Anyone?

Learning Activity

Chef Molly has hired Carillon Technologies to evaluate the variation of two Penne pasta brands for her favorite pasta dish "Pasta and Broccoli." Your Manager has asked you and your team to collect data by measuring product from both brands. You are expected to measure the pasta tube size to the nearest 0.001" of an inch, using either a dial or vernier caliper or a micrometer.

Read the letter from your Manager

Do the graphing and calculations then write the letter.

Prepare a letter to your Instructor, and Post the results to the Discussion Forum

If you are unsure how to: (1) measure the pasta using a dial caliper or micrometer, (2) determine the descriptive statistics, and (3) create a histogram then review the materials linked below.

(This piece of penne pasta measures 0.249 inches)

Determine Descriptive Statistics (mean, mode, median, sample std deviation, range)

Evaluate appearance

Provide summary report in the form of a letter to Anita Carillon - post data and statistics to the discussion forum.
